After six years we meet again the artist Pandora Graessl and her seductive and fascinating still life. Two works of the series Criaturas adorne the new Peruffo Jewelry Booth at VicenzaOro (September ‘26 edition), perfectly dialoguing with the jewels and the new space by Studio Amaa.
Could you tell me about your collaborations with Peruffo Jewelry?
My relationship with Peruffo started about six years ago, when they invited me to create a campaign for one of their collections. I scanned the jewelry both as still lifes and directly with models, creating these very intimate, almost hyperreal images. Six years later, they invited me back, this time as an artist, to present works from my Criaturas series at VicenzaOro. I love that scanning has become the thread connecting these two collaborations.
Which work are you showing at VicenzaOro? What is the inspiration and how does it dialogue with the jewels?
I’m showing works from Criaturas, a series born from my obsession with flowers. I scan flowers directly, revealing details, textures and almost bodily qualities that we don’t normally see. For Peruffo, the images are printed and encased in transparent plexiglass blocks, so the flowers appear suspended somewhere between specimens, relics and jewels.
Flowers are incredibly seductive but also ephemeral, so I’m interested in this idea of preserving something that cannot last. I think this creates a natural dialogue with jewelry through preciousness, materiality, sensuality and the tension between fragility and permanence.
What is the state of your artistic research at the moment?
My practice is becoming increasingly sculptural and spatial. Photography is still very present, but I’m interested in pushing the image beyond the image. More and more, I’m creating spaces and worlds, bringing together a lot of different elements sculpture, photography, light, sound and sometimes scent. At the center of my research are ideas of transformation, nature, ritual, mythology and the constant dialogue between life and death, fragility and the duality of this world.
Your upcoming projects
I’m currently developing several sculptural and site-specific projects internationally, with a growing focus on sculpture, architecture and photography.
I’m also expanding my research around my own mythology, while developing larger works. The next chapter of my practice is really about scale bringing these different languages together to create environments that people can physically enter and experience.
