PArt – ANNA FRANCESCHINI AT WITTE DE WITH

Peruffo Jewelry is glad to announce PArt, a new interdisciplinary project meant to support and interact with contemporary artists.

The first selected artist is Anna Franceschini. Peruffo Jewelry has had the pleasure to support her her artwork “The Oracle of Delft” (audiovisual performance, 2020), a newly commissioned episode of a performance the artist created in 2007 and has been reenacting since then, in the display at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, on the occasion of the exhibition “An Exhibition with works by…”, curated by Bernardo José de Souza and Sofìa Hernàndez Chong Cuy.
This group show explores the theme of aesthetic forms immigration and the ever-changing values systems which are considered to be typical of national ideals and cultural identities. The main focus is classic white and blue ceramic, took as a symbol to analyze the way with which “cosmopolitan” objects get rooted in national projects.
This kind of ceramic is called “Delft Blue” in The Netherlands, whereas in other countries it is named after its geopolitical provenance, such as Talavera, Iznik, Azulejo, China or Quinghua.

Anna Franceschini (1979, Pavia, Italy) lives and works in Milan, Italy. She is an artist, film director and researcher. Her films and videos investigate objects, spaces and activities. The alien nature of these elements becomes evident when the camera lingers on it during a dilated time.
For Franceschini, the moving image can conduct a silent and meditative observation of reality. Her static and repetitive cinematographic language often entails an absolute absence of human beings, underlining our arbitrary and culturally-filtered relationship with the world around us.

Founded in 1990, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art offers a rich program of art exhibitions, productions, educational events and ventures, together with publications – spanning from artists books to catalogs to web-based editorial platforms.
